Chapter 11 The news spread
"Let's talk about this later when we go downstairs." Uncle Yi Zhonghai thought about it and decided not to say it at the meeting. Besides, the matter also had to be decided by Jia Zhangshi and Qin Huairu.
"People who are not working in other courtyards, try not to go out in the next two days, and lend a hand when the time comes." Yi Zhonghai thought about it and felt that this matter would not require many people, and it would be difficult for everyone to ask for leave if they had work to do.
"Okay, that's all, let's all go." After saying that, Yi Zhonghai thought carefully and decided that there should be nothing else.
"Shengli, Zhuzi, come with me. Old sister-in-law, come over here too." Uncle Yi Zhonghai called out to Li Shengli and Sha Zhu, and then called out to Jia Zhang who had stopped crying.
Li Shengli glanced at Sha Zhu, stood up and followed him. Sha Zhu secretly glanced at Qin Huairu who was crying, and also followed him.
The four of them came to the house. The eldest uncle Yi Zhonghai thought for a while and asked Jia Zhangshi: "Old sister-in-law, are you going to hold a grand funeral for Dongxu or keep it simple?"
"Let's keep it simple. The country doesn't support big weddings these days." Jia Zhang thought for a while and said. Although she wanted to have a big wedding, the time was not right. Besides, it would cost a lot of money. Her family was not rich, and she couldn't get the gift money back.
"Okay, then let's work out what we can do to avoid losing face." Uncle Yi Zhonghai nodded in agreement.
"Supplies are hard to buy these days." Uncle Yi Zhonghai paced in the room and thought.
"Let's prepare a big stew for the table, and make whatever else we have." Uncle Yi Zhonghai thought for a long time.
"Okay, leave it to me." When Sha Zhu heard this, it seemed like a simple task, just a big stew, the same as the big pot dishes in the cafeteria. He agreed without hesitation.
"Uncle, Master He has agreed to this job. I will come to help after get off work." Li Shengli didn't want to get involved in the affairs of such a large group of people, so he gave his own reasons, which were very reasonable. Why do they need two chefs for such a small job?
Li Shengli thought that the relationship between him and the Jia family was just that of ordinary neighbors. He could just offer some gifts when they paid their respects and help out when he was not at work.
Li Shengli didn't wait for Yi Zhonghai to say anything and said to Sha Zhu: "Master He, you are familiar with the banquet, so I'll leave it to you."
"I won't disturb your discussion. I'll just be in the yard. If you have anything to say, just let me know. I have something else to do, so I'll go back first." Li Shengli stood up and waved to the three of them, then walked out of Uncle Yi Zhonghai's house.
The three people who were left looked at each other, and there was a slightly awkward atmosphere in the air.
"Okay, Zhuzi, you take a look at what needs to be done. I'll then ask the factory's purchasing department to see if we can get the ingredients." Uncle Yi Zhonghai said, patting his head.
"Okay, I'll go and discuss it." Sha Zhu didn't think much about it. After all, what Li Shengli said made sense.
Jia Zhang was still immersed in the pain of losing her son and didn't think much about it.
Li Shengli left Uncle Yi Zhonghai's house and didn't want to know what the uncle was planning. As long as he didn't get involved, he wouldn't be plotted against.
After returning home, Li Shengli read a book for a while and then lay down on the bed to sleep.
The next day, Li Shengli came to the steel rolling mill canteen.
"Master Li, here we are." As soon as we entered the cafeteria, several apprentices came over.
"Is there anything wrong?" Seeing several people gathering around, Li Shengli asked curiously.
"Master Li, do you know who had the accident in the factory yesterday?" Yao Qin asked first, relying on her familiarity with Li Shengli.
"Yes, his name is Jia Dongxu." Li Shengli nodded and replied. "He lives at No. 95 Nanluoguxiang. I remember you, Master Li, also live there." An older woman next to Yao Qin asked.
"Yes." Li Shengli nodded again.
"Then do you know what happened next?" A group of people blinked and looked at Li Shengli.
Li Shengli was a little frightened by the looks of these people. It turned out that one should not underestimate these people's determination to eat spectators.
"The person is dead. It was too late when he was sent to the hospital." Li Shengli hurriedly gave the final answer. The looks in their eyes made him feel creepy.
"Alas." Although the news had already spread throughout the factory, everyone couldn't help but sigh when they got the definite answer from Li Shengli. They were all from the same factory, and who knew when an accident would happen.
Li Shengli continued to work on his job and left the cafeteria leisurely after get off work in the evening.
Passing by the bulletin board in the factory, Li Shengli leaned forward and saw a notice posted on the board, which said that Jia Dongxu in workshop seven had an accident and everyone should take it as a warning and strengthen safety in production in the future.
After seeing the notice, Li Shengli knew that Uncle Yi Zhonghai should have contacted the factory, and the factory should send someone to the yard to notify the Jia family tomorrow.
Staggering back to the courtyard, Li Shengli opened the lock on his front door, put down the lunch box in his hand and took a sip of water.
At this time, the third uncle Yan Bugui hurriedly walked out from the middle courtyard.
"Uncle, have you finished your work?" Li Shengli called out while holding the jar.
"Shengli, I have notified everyone who should be notified. They should come tomorrow." The third uncle Yan Bugui stopped and looked over when he heard Li Shengli's voice.
"Okay, then I'll go to the Intermediate Courtyard and take a look." Li Shengli said after thinking for a while.
Li Shengli came to the central courtyard. No matter what his relationship was with the people in the courtyard, or what Uncle Yi Zhonghai was planning, he had to go and help when his neighbor had a funeral.
Li Shengli entered the central courtyard. Sha Zhu and the second uncle Liu Haizhong were discussing something with Qin Huairu at the home of the first uncle Yi Zhonghai. Li Shengli did not join in the discussion but did some small things with other people in the courtyard.
After a while, the four of them finished their discussion and came out of the old man's house.
Uncle Yi Zhonghai squinted his eyes and looked around. He saw Li Shengli and walked over to him and said, "Shengli, you and Sha Zhu will cook for tomorrow night together."
Li Shengli was about to refuse.
"Shengli, you should take a day off tomorrow and come back early to prepare the ingredients." Uncle Yi Zhonghai said in a calm voice without waiting for Li Shengli's consent.
"Uncle, are you going to make a big deal about this? Has Master He asked for leave?" Li Shengli rolled his eyes. He was still thinking about asking himself to ask for leave. What was he thinking? Wouldn't this be a waste of a day's time?
"It's not a big deal, just a big stew and a few side dishes." Uncle Yi Zhonghai explained.
People from the steel rolling mill are coming tomorrow. If we make a big fuss about this, how will we let the factory leaders know how difficult the Jia family's situation is?
"Zhu Zi will also take a leave tomorrow, so that two of us can work together faster." Uncle Yi Zhonghai expressed his plan.
